Dinnertime offers an excellent opportunity to pair your newest wine discovery with an outstanding menu of local foods and flavors. The Napa Valley restaurants build on the region’s great reputation and deliver a culinary experience, whether it is a gourmet pizza or potato-crusted sea bass over brandade mashed potatoes with spinach & white truffle sauce.

Walking Distance
Angele is a small, French country restaurant in the Hatt River Plaza just a long block up the street along the river. It has a charming, rustic atmosphere and wonderful food (dine outside in good weather). Also, an intimate full bar. 707-252-8115

Allegria is also a guest-favorite Italian restaurant in downtown Napa. It is located in an old bank building with fabulous chandeliers. The setting is more formal than Tuscany, the mood lighting is great, and offers excellent surroundings for a special occasion.

Celadon is also located in the Hatt River Plaza and offers outdoor seating on a lovely patio. Greg, the owner, calls it "Global Comfort Food" and the menu changes seasonally. Try the grilled salmon with sticky rice. 707-254-9690

Cole's Chop House is a true steak house offering a full bar inside a cool, vintage building. Whatever you do... Do not forget to have the onion rings or hash-browns. 707-224-6328

Napa General Store serves a variety of lunch sandwiches, salads, pizzas and Asian dishes and, at dinner time, they serve wonderful small plates of Asian influenced meats and fish from their Vietnamese chef who recently relocated from the Slanted Door Restaurant in San Francisco. The store is also in the Hatt River Plaza.

Pizza Azzuro serves lunch and dinner at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere. They have absolutely delicious, gourmet thin-crust pizzas (e.g. the fungi pizza has several types of mushrooms), wonderful salads (their Caesar is one of the best in the valley), and several pasta dishes to choose from. 707-255-5552

Tuscany is a traditional Italian restaurant with a casual atmosphere. The restaurant faces Main Street and offers excellent views of Napa’s daily routine. Our favorites include a fantastic Osso Bucco and delicious Calamari Fritti. 707-258-1000

Zuzu offers not just your ordinary tapas... but a wonderful, sensory experience with flavors you will not soon forget. The desserts are just as memorable and the atmosphere inviting. No reservations accepted. 707-224-8555

A Short Drive
Bayleaf has an eclectic and interesting menu that includes house-made Smoked Salmon appetizer, Grilled Ahi Tuna, and Beef Wellington. They offer a full bar for your choice of cocktails. If you are in the mood for something lighter, try their handcrafted pizzas. The atmosphere is comfortable and romantic. For seating, they provide six-person nooks, a large French country dining room and a trellised outdoor terrace. 707-257-9720

Bistro Don Giovanni has Italian and French country influences. Ask to sit on the porch overlooking the vines for a truly memorable experience. The fancy-schmancy pizzas and incredible lamb shanks are innkeeper favorites. 707-224-3300

French Laundry is probably the most famous restaurant in California. Their 7 and 9-courses are available for lunch or dinner and showcase the best seasonal products available. Reservations are accepted two months in advance and can be made online through their website. A jacket is required. 707-944-2380

Foothill Cafe is a local favorite and, as they say, it is located in the "Beautiful J&P Shopping Center." While most well known for their baby back ribs, we also recommend their pan-roasted ginger and peppercorn crusted salmon, roasted pork loin with mustard cream, grilled artichoke half, and steamed mussels and clams with garden herbs, and... oh, and the creme brulee! 707-252-6178

La Toque provides an epicurean experience in the Napa Valley. Located in Rutherford, it offers a five-course, French-inspired, prix-fixe menu (two choices per course) with wine pairing. A truly gourmet "over the rainbow" experience that can last for three to four hours. Elegant attire is required in the dining room, so bring something nice. 707-963-9770

Martini House was listed as one of Esquire Magazine's top 19 restaurants in the United States in 2002 and it is well deserved. Located in an old St. Helena house, you will fall in love with the place before you even walk through the doors. The cream of mushroom soup is incredible and the service is top-notch. Patio dining is available in the summer months. 707-963-2233

Wine Garden in Yountville not only offers flights of wines and beers at its beautiful bar and lounge area, but also small plates of international foods such as scallops, duck tamales, hangar steak, stuffed quail, and more very similar to a tapas menu but without the Spanish origin. 707-945-1002
